Christmas Card 5
(PSP all versions)
A tutorial by Mar ©2005

What you need:
PSP
Download a 30 day trial here.
Materials:  Download here.
Open all images from the ZIP in PSP.
Open the font and minimize.
You'll see it in your text tool now.

Save often.
Let's
get started. Good luck.....

Open a new image 400 X 300 > Transparent.

Selections > Select all.
Selections > Modify > Contract with 20 pixels.

Foreground to pattern and look for MD-Card-Pattern.jpg.
Texture unchecked (= bleu hand).

Background to pattern and look for the MD-Silver2.jpg.
Texture unchecked (= bleu hand).

Fill the selection with your right mouse button (the silver).

Selections > Modify > Contract with 3 pixels.
Fill the selection with your foreground pattern > MD-Card-Pattern.jpg.
PSP 7 users might have to add a new layer first.
Do this every time you have to fill on top of another fill.
Merge visible before continuing with the tutorial every time.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 50 pixels.
Fill with your right mouse button (the silver).

Selections > Modify > Contract with 3 Pixels.
Fill the selection with your foreground pattern > MD-Card-Pattern.jpg.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 15 pixels.
Fill with your right mouse button (the silver).

Selections > Modify > Contract with 3 Pixels.

Foreground to MD-Card-StarPattern.jpg (in ZIP).

Fill the selection with MD-Card-StarPattern.jpg pattern (scale 75).
For the gold stars
(I added in the zip) use scale 50.

Fill the selection with the star pattern.

Selections > Select none.

If all went well you have this now:

Move the card as far as possible down and to the left.

With your freehand selection tool  select a triangle.

Layers > New raster layer.

In your Layer pallet move this layer beneath your card.

Fill with your right mouse button (the silver).

Selections > Select none.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Move the card back to the middle of your canvas.

Click and look for the opened Xmas Clipart 2. It's in the ZIP.
Size 200 > Stroke 0,0 > Align Center > Anti-alias checked or Sharp.

Normally the B for Bold is checked but for this  font it's better to uncheck
.
Caps Lock on and type a capital P.

There are lots more great Christmas clipart in the
Xmas fonts (2 different in ZIP) but I use P for this tutorial.

In your Layer Pallet convert to raster (all versions).

Effects > 3D-effects > Drop shadow > Black.

Move your tree or other clipart to the middle of your card.

Image > Canvas size > 450 X 400 > Center.

Open a new image  400 X 300 > Transparent.

Selections > Select all.
Selections > Modify > Contract with 20 pixels.

Fill with your right mouse button (the silver).

Selections > Modify > Contract with 3 Pixels.

Fill the selection with the star pattern.

Selections > Select none.

Now open the christmas-stamps.psp.
With your rectangle selection tool select a stamp and copy it.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move the stamp to the right corner.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Copy the envelope and go back to your card.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Image > Rotate > Free rotation > 20 Degrees to the left.

In your layer pallet move this layer down.

Move the envelope up and to the left (see examples).

Use a nice font and add your name to the card.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Place the card on a background and save as  jpg.

Your Christmas Card 5 is done.
