What you need:
PSP. Download a 30
day trial here.
The ZIP with all tubes: Download here (932 kb). If you need more Christmas tubes, look at my site here.
The ZIP with patterns: Download here (390 kb).
The ZIP with other materials: Download here (268 Kb).
The files are in a separate ZIP since they are very large.
Open all Zips in a folder on you PC and take a good look at them.
Save often.
Let's get started. Good luck.....
Before you begin I suggest you look at the tubesheet.
Decide what you want to make. A snowman, wreath (last
example at the bottom of this tutorial) or a Christmas tree.
Open a new image 450 X 400, transparent.
Open the Zip's with the patterns and pick one. Open.
Foreground to Pattern and look for the pattern you picked.
Texture unchecked (= bleu hand).
The pattern I used for this tutorial is at scale 50
but most other textures need a larger size (75-100).
Fill your image.
Selections > Select all.
Selections > Modify > Contract with 10 Pixels.
Selections > Invert.
With your color picker > Click in your image to choose
a color that matches the pattern. I used #aba8b5 myself.
Effects > 3D-effects > Inner bevel > White.
Effects > 3D-effects > Drop shadow > Black.
Repeat the drop shadow but this time Vert. and Horiz. at - 2.
Open a new image 350 X 350 > Transparent.
Open the MD-Felt.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer in your 350 X 350 image.
Colorize the felt to match your pattern.
With the color picker pick the main color.
Now look in your color menu what data is in the fields
H (Hue) & S (Saturation). Look at the pointing hands.
My color data is 98 and 132.
Put the data in your colorize menu like this:
This way you can colorize everything you want to match.
Now open your tubes and make a Xmas tree, Wreath or Snowman.
Copy, paste, resize, sharpen and play with all the PSP possibilities.
Not all buttons are tubed nicely (this is a very good exercise
for you) so select
them with your circle selection tool (feather 0).
Click in the middle and draw a round selection before you copy.
Don't forget to click the button first to select it's layer before you copy.
To resize the buttons for your tree (each level up a bit smaller):
Change size with 85% > All layers unchecked.
Below are two examples but go ahead and
make what ever you like using the buttons.
With you can move everything in place.
When satisfied:
Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.
Copy the merged felt and go back to your other image.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Image > Rotate > Free rotation > 25% to the left or right.
It makes no difference what direction. Do what you like best.
All layers unchecked.
Move your felt a bit up to the left (or right).
Repeat the drop shadow at 2 and at - 2.
Open the MD-Ring.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Put the ring at the highest point of your felt.
With your magic wand > Click in the middle of the ring.
Select the layer beneath (the felt) and click delete.
Now go back to your top layer (the ring).
Repeat the drop shadow at 2.
Open the MD-Felt-2.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the felt like on the screenshot below:
Repeat the drop shadow at 2 and at - 2.
Open the red ribbon (MD-Ribbon.psp) and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the ribbon over the middle of the felt.
Open the MD-MC-mask.jpg.
Shift-D to duplicate.
Fill the copy with #ecebef.
At your filled copy:
Layers > Convert to raster.
Layers > New mask layer > From image.
Find the MD-MC-mask.jpg.
Invert mask data checked.
Layers >Merge > Merge group.
In your layer pallet > Duplicate. Do this another 2 times.
Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.
Copy and paste on your card.
Put the text GREETINGS over the red ribbon.
Copy the little red bow from your tube sheet.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Put it on top of your red ribbon.
If all went well you have this now.
Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten
Your Button Xmas is done.
Make all kind of different cards this way.
A star or wreath is also nice to create with buttons.
I hope you like this tutorial.
