Let's
get started. Good luck.....

This tutorial is done in PSP 9.

Open a new image 250 X 200 > Transparent.

Foreground to #000080.
Background to #000040.

Foreground to gradient.
Look for the "Fore-background" gradient.
Texture unchecked (blue hand).

Fill your image with the gradient.

With your rectangle selection tool (feather 0) select
the bottom of your card
as on the screenshot below.
Take a good look please. It is less than half.

Layers > New raster layer.

Fill the selection with #846e38.

Selections > None.

Effects > Distortion effect > Wave.

Layers > Duplicate.

Move the top layer to the right.
Now your mountains are asymmetric.

Select the part like on the screenshot below.

Layers > New raster layer.

Fill the selection with #c2a966.

Selections > None.

Effects > Distortion effect > Wave.

Layers > Duplicate.

Move the top layer to the right.
Now these mountains are asymmetric too.

This is my result:

Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten.

Open a new image 250 X 100 > Transparent.

Foreground locked and background to #e8cd89.

With your shapes tool draw 3 rectangle building blocks.

Take a good look at the screenshot.
You can use the grey raster grid for the size.

Your village doesn't have to be exactly the same as mine.
My screenshots are just examples on how it can be done.

Layers > Convert to raster.

Background to #fff2c9.

Draw the village like on the screenshots. More or less.
Convert to raster every time you draw a new piece so you
can move the blocks later if you want to change or modify.

Now select the oval shape.

Draw a dome
as on the screenshot.

Background to #806256.
Select your rectangle shape tool again and
draw the little windows like the screenshot.
Notice.......... After each window convert to raster.
This way you can make sure your windows in a series of 3 or 4
are the same. After drawing the first window duplicate and put
it next to the other(s). This way your series are the same.

Background back to #e8cd89 and draw
another building block (screenshot).

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Copy your village and go back to your image with the mountains.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move the village as on the screenshot below.

Open the MD-Palm-1.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

In your Layer Palette move the
palm layer beneath the village layer.

Select the top layer again (=blue).

Open the MD-Palm-2.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Put these palms in front of the houses.

If all went well you have something like this:

Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten.

Foreground to #f7d97a.

Select a rectangle like on the screenshot below:

Layers > New raster layer.

Fill the selection with #f7d97a.

Adjust > Add noise/.... > Add noise.

Selections > None.

Effects > Distortion effect > Wave.

Now open the MD-Stars.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move the stars on the nightly sky.

Open the star of Bethlehem and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move the star between the other stars.

Effects > 3D-effects > Drop shadow > White.

Repeat the drop shadow but this time Vert. and Horiz. at - 5.

Layers > Merge > Merge all flatten.

Image > Add borders > 2 Pixels > Symmetric > Red.

With your magic wand (feather 0) select the red border.

Foreground to pattern.
Look for the "MD-Goldfill" pattern.
Texture unchecked (blue hand).

Fill the selection with the gold pattern.

Image > Add borders > 35 Pixels > Symmetric > Red.

With your magic wand (feather 0) select the red border.

Fill this border with the same gradient you used before.
Of course you have to put your colors back to #000080 and #000040.

Image > Add borders > 2 Pixels > Symmetric > Red.

With your magic wand select the red border.

Fill the selection with the gold pattern.

Now open the three Christmas texts. Make a choice.
If you want to use two like I did in this tutorial:
Copy them one by one and paste on your card.
Give your text a drop shadow.
Effects > 3D-effects > Drop shadow > Black.

Put the texts like on the screenshot below
or different. See what you like best.

Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten.

Image > Change size > 90%.

Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen.

Open one of the card basis.
They are all the same size 400 X 400.

Open the MD-Envelope.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the envelope a little up and to the left.

Now go to your Bethlehem card and copy.
Go back to your base.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the card a little to the right and down.

Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten.

Image > Add borders > 5 Pixels > Symmetric > Red.

With your magic wand select the red border.

Fill the selection with the gold pattern.

If you picked a light color base it is nicer to
use a drop shadow like before at 2 and at - 2.

Selections > None.

Your Bethlehem card is done.
I hope you like this tutorial.
Thank you for putting it to the test.

Happy Holidays to all of you and....
