Candle Holder
(PSP all versions)

What you need:
Corel PSP. Download a 30 day trial here.
Materials: Download here.
Shapes. Don't have them? Download from my site.
It is the second one with all the buttons.
Save in your Shapes folder in PSP.

Save often.

Let's
get started. Good luck.....

Open a new image 400 X 400 > Transparent.
This is much to wide but now you have enough space to work in.

Take your Shapes tool PSP 7   PSP 8 PSP 9 PSP X .

Look for button 11. Retain style, Anti-alias and Vector checked.

Draw an oval. Look at the screen below.

Layers > Convert to raster layer.

Now take Button 52.

 Draw a small oval over the first one.
With your object tool 7-8 & 9 and the selection tool in 10 , make
the button the right size and put it into place on top of the first one.
If the size is right:
Layers > Convert to raster layer.

You can move it if needed with .
 The mover tool PSP 7-8-9 is in PSP X under the pull down of the .
Click on the little black triangle that is next to the arrow and you will see ).

Satisfied?
Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

If all went well you must have this now:

Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize.

Layers > Duplicate.

Image > Resize > 80% > Smart size > All layers unchecked (=bleu hand).



Move this layer on top of the other.

Duplicate another time and reduce size to 80% like before.

Again move on top of the other two..

When satisfied
Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

You have this now:

Shift-D to duplicate the image.
Save the original under another name.
Always handy for future candleholders.

Open the MD-Decoration.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Effects > 3D-effects > Inner bevel > Color #c0c0c0.

Move the decoration on the foot you just made.
If necessary make the right size with (or  PSP 10).

Foreground to #808080. Background to #c0c0c0.

Foreground to gradient.
Look for the fore-background gradient.
Texture unchecked (= bleu hand).

Now lock your background style.
Can you still follow my lead??

With your shape tool choose the oval.

 

Settings like this:
Oval > Create as Vector > Stroke 10 > Anti-alias
checked.

Draw an oval over your decoration.

Layers > Convert to raster layer.

Effects > 3-D effects > Inner bevel like before.

In your layer pallet move this layer down
so the ring is under the decoration.

Select the decoration on the top layer (= blue).
Layers > Duplicate.
Image > Flip.

Move the decoration like on the screenshot below.

Open the MD-holder.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move the dish on top of your decoration.
I created this dish from scratch for this
tutorial so no problems with © copyrights.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

If you want a gold candle holder you have to colorize it now:
Adjust > Hue and Saturation > Colorize.

Open the MD-Glass-star.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

You can also use one of your own decorations.
Remove the star from the hook and hang your own.

Move the glass star in top of the oval like the screen below.

If you are satisfied and your candleholder looks good:
Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

You can put a nice candle in your holder.
Resize the holder first.

Image > Resize > 70% > Smart size > All layers unchecked.

Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen.
I have put a candle in the ZIP for you. Colorize like you want.
Before you colorize remove the flame and put it back
afterwards or select only the candle part to colorize.

Your candle holder is done.
