Valentine Card
(PSP 7, 8 & 9 - no filters)

What you need:
PSP
7, 8 or 9. Download a 30 day trial of V9 here.
What you need:
ZIP with materials: Download here.
Unzip images and tubes and open in PSP.
Open the font and minimize.
It will show in your text tool in PSP.

Save often.

Open MD-Rosebase.jpg in PSP.
Promote background to layer.

Open  MD-Rosemask.jpg in PSP and go back to your first image.

Layers > New mask layer > From image.

Find MD-Rosemask.jpg.

Apply .
Layers > Merge > Merge group.

Foreground style to pattern and find MD-greypattern.psp.

Selections > All. Selections > Float.
Selections > Defloat (seems a bit strange but it is the right way).
Selections > Modify > Expand 1 pixel.

New raster layer.
Fill with grey pattern.

Selections > None.

Move this layer to the bottom in your layer palette.

Merge visible layers.
Copy.

Open a new image 500 X 500. We like some work space.
Paste as a new layer.
Move a little to the left.

New image 300 X 350 fill with grey pattern.

Repeat the steps with the mask on this layer.
Don't forget to merge group.

Copy and go back to your original image.
Paste as a new layer.

Effects > Geometric effects > Skew -10.

Place   the right top corners on top of each other.

Select  with your lasso tool the part between the dotted line.
I did remove the middle part in the screenshot to show it better.

Set your pattern to grain2.bmp (ZIP) and fill selection.
Selections > None.

Move this layer to the bottom in your layer palette.
Check if it fits.
Zoom in and check if you can see through the right corner.

Activate your top layer (= blue).

Use deformation .
You see the red nodes.

Hold Shift-key down and move the middle node
at the bottom to the left (=blue hand).

 

Merge visible layers.

Text tool .
Find Rothenburg Decorative.
Setting: Vector > Size  26 > Stroke 0.0 > Align left.

Type your text.

Convert to raster.
Use deformation .
The red nodes are around your text.
Pull over to the left again so it aligns with your card.

Merge visible layers.

Crop your image.
In PSP 8 and 9 you can work very precise.

Save as gif or place it on a background layer.
This is how to save as a gif.
Follow the screens and tabs.

Your blend color is your background color.
I used pink so I used #e0bab9.
You can use a light grey most of the times.

Your Valentines Card is done.
