Parrot Romance Tag
(PSP all versions)

A tutorial by Mar ©2007

You can Drag & Drop the below hand
for a easy use of this tutorial.

What you need:
PSP
Download a 30 day trial here.
The materials: Download here.
Sinedots II
from Dragonfly. Download here.
Unzip in your PSP Plugins folder.
Unzip the filter in your plug-in folder of PSP.
Close and restart PSP otherwise your filter won't work.
Open all images from the ZIP in PSP.

Save often.
Let's
get started. Good luck.....

This tutorial is done in PSP 9.
Open a new image 350 X 400 and fill with black.

Layers > New raster layer.

Put your foreground to the MD-Gold-3 pattern from the ZIP.
Texture unchecked (blue hand).

Fill the layer with the gold pattern.

Open the (made by me) MD-Rose-Mask.jpg mask.

Layers > New mask layer > From image.

Look for the MD-Rose-Mask.jpg and apply.

Layers > Merge > Merge group.

Lock your background style.

With your shapes tool select the shape Heart 1.

If you don't have the shape you can find it here on my site.

Draw a heart. Stroke 3.
For the (about)
size look at my screenshot below.

Layers > Convert to raster.

With your magic wand (Tolerance 25 and Feather 1) click in the heart.

Effects > Plugins > DragonFly > Sinedots II.
Put all settings like on the screenshot. Don't skip any. Color #1df71d.
So you have to change all settings in red and anti-alias has to be checked.
If you are done with the settings you can save it for future use. (See blue hand).

Effects > 3D-effects > Inner bevel > Color white.

Selections > None.
Open two parrots or a parrot couple and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move the Parrot(-s) on the heart but make sure they are at the black part.
Move the heart down if that is necessary.
Something like this:

If you are satisfied:
Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten.

Make sure your background style is still locked.

Foreground to color. With your color picker take a color from your image.
I toke the darker red from the left parrot (#b30f41).

Now lets paint our mask.

Select the tool "Color to Target".

>>>>
>>>>

Now color some pieces of the rose.
It doesn't have to be precise.
It is even nice to go a bit outside the lines on some spots.
There is one rule of thumb....... You can't color the black spots!
The gold you can! So you can also color the border of the heart.

Now pick (color picker) a green color from your image.
I used the green just above the beak but
you can also use the green from the heart.
I used (#389326).
Paint some parts of the leaves.

Now take some other colors from your image and make some accents.
This is my result painting the mask:

Do you see I used almost every color from the image?
Now the colors of the mask are matching the image.

Open one of the texts from the ZIP and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move on to a nice spot.
Of course you ca
n also make your own texts.

You can also decorate your tag with a cocktail.
That makes the tag a bit tropical.
Take a look at the examples at the bottom of this tutorial.

If you are satisfied with the image:
Layers > Merge > Merge all flatten.

Image > Add borders > 2 Pixels > Symmetric > Color white.

With your magic wand select the white border.
Fill the selection with the gold.

Your Parrot Romance Tag is done.
I hope you like this tutorial and learned some new.
