Let's get started. Good luck.....
This tutorial is done in PSP 9. This tag can be done
in all colors (see below this tutorial).
Open a new image 400 X 400 and fill with #f3f3f3.
Effects > Texture effects > Blinds >
Color #c0c0c0.
Layers > New raster layer.
Fill the layer with #e481a3.
Open the (made by me) MD-OctagonMask.jpg mask.
Layers > New mask layer > From image.
Look for the MD-OctagonMask.jpg and apply.
Layers > Merge > Merge group.
Effects > Texture effects >
Blinds > Color
#b25a7c.
This time check the option "Horizontal".
Effects > 3D-effects > Inner
bevel > Color white.
Selections > Select all.
Selections > Modify > Contract with 20 pixels.
Layers > New raster layer.
Now put your foreground to the silver pattern from the ZIP.
Texture unchecked (blue hand).
Fill the selection with the silver.
Selections > Modify >
Contract with 5 pixels.
Click "Delete" to remove the middle part.
Selections > None.
Effects > 3D-effects > Drop
shadow > Black.
Repeat the drop shadow but this
time Horiz. and Vert. to - 2.
Now select the rectangle selection tool.
In the dropdown menu select the octagon selection.
If you start at the spot
where the cross is in my
example below,
your selection will come out the way it should.
In the middle.
So halfway the corner surface at the left.
If it doesn't work out, click undo and start over.
Layers > New raster layer.
Fill the selection with the
silver pattern.
Selections > Modify >
Contract with 5 pixels.
Click "Delete" to remove the middle part.
Selections > None.
Repeat the drop shadow at 2 and
at - 2.
Open the MD-Swans.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer
Move
the swans as on the screenshot below.
Effects > Reflection-effects >
Feedback.
Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten.
The swans are still on your PC's memory.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer
Move
the swans exactly over the swan you pasted before.
With your magic wand
(Feather 1) click in the swans.
Repeat the blinds as you last used.
Layers > New raster layer.
Fill the selection (swans) with the silver pattern.
Selections > Modify >
Contract with 2 pixels.
Click "Delete" to remove the middle part.
Selections > None.
Lock your background for now.
Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.
Effects > 3D-effects > Drop
shadow > Black.
Unlock your background.
If the swans aren't precise over the first swans
this is your last change to move them in place.
Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten.
If all went well you now have this:
Foreground locked and background
to #d96c90.
Click
and look for the opened Amaze font. It's in the ZIP.
Size 30 > Stroke 0,0 > Bold > Italic > Align; Center > Anti-alias
checked or Sharp.
Type your text now.
I used:
"For you... (enter)
my best (enter)
friend!
Or girlfriend of course.
But any other text will do too.
Maybe you need to adjust the size if you use another text.
This tag can also be used for mother- or
father day.
For instance.........
"For you... (enter)
the best mother (enter)
in the world!
Or dad of course!
Layers > Convert to raster.
Repeat the drop shadow as you
used the last time.
Put
the text
above the swans.
Layers > Merge > Merge all layers flatten.
Your Octagon Tag is done.
