Proud Tag
(PSP all versions with AS)

A tutorial by Mar ©2006

What you need:
PSP
Download a 30 day trial here.
Materials: Download here.
Open the Peacock.gifs in Animation Shop.

Open all images from the ZIP in PSP.
Open the font and minimize.
You'll see it in your text tool now.

This tutorial can only be done if you have Animation Shop (AS).
If you are a new PSP user and you only have PSP X without AS, you
can download AS for free at Jacs:
http://FTP.jasc.Com/pub/en/ani311en.exe .

This tutorial is the base for future tutorials I a going to write.
I have made and bought lovely animations that are a treasure for
future tutorials. The main purpose is to place an animation in a Tag.

Let's get started with the Proud animation Tag.
Save often.
Have fun and good luck.....

Open a new image 400 X 400 > Transparent.

Foreground to: #cbfe7c.
Background to: #a7e249.
Foreground style to gradient.
Look for the "Fore-back" gradient.
Texture unchecked (blue hand).

Fill your image with the gradient.

Open the MD-ProudBanner.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move  to the bottom against the edge of your image.

Open the MD-ProudTropical.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the palm trees against the dark banner.
Put the mode for this layer to "Overlay".

Open the MD-ProudShadow.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the shadow over the palm trees.
Put the mode for this layer to "Soft Light".

Open the MD-ProudSun.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the sun light at the top of your image.
Put the mode for this layer to "Soft Light".

Open the MD-ProudSun-2.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move this sun in the heart of the sun beam.
Put the mode for this layer to "Overlay".

If all went well you have something like this:

Open the MD-ProudFrame.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
As you can see it fits perfect in the left upper corner.
Put it there.

Open the MD-ProudPeacock.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the peacock in the frame that you just placed in the corner.
Make sure you can still see the white/yellow line.
In the ZIP is also a lion you can use if you like (also an animation).

Open the MD-Proudleaves.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the divider on the transition of the dark green and
the palm trees. Make sure the white/yellow line stays visible.

Open the MD-ProudButterfly.psp and copy.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move   the butterfly next to the sun or on another spot you like best.
Make sure the dark green stays free to put in your animation later on.

Now put your background to #497901 and lock your foreground.

Click and look for the opened  AtHelindaRook font. That's in the ZIP.
Size 48 > Stroke 0,0 > B for Bold > Anti-alias checked or Sharp.

Type your text.
Proud as a  Peacock.
So: Proud as a (= 2 X space) and (Capital P) for Peacock.
The reason for the extra space is so the P of Peacock won't go trough your text

Apply.
Layers > Convert to raster.

Move the text as on the screenshot below.

Layers > Merge > Merge flatten.

Image > Add borders > 5 Pixels > Color #0063ff.
With your Magic Wand (Feather 0 and tolerance 15) select the blue border.

Effects > 3D-effects > Inner bevel > White.

How many times we have to duplicate this layer depends on
the number of layers the animation that you are going to use has.
So open the animation in Animation Shop and see how many frames the
animation has. Peacock-ani-2.gif has 15 and the one I am going to use for this
tutorial, Peacock-ani-1.gif, has 8. You can see we need 8 frames for this one. So:
Duplicate the layer 7 (or 14) times. You have a total of 8 (or 15) layers.

Save your PSP file as proud.psp.

******************************************************
Proceed from this point if you are doing another tutorial.
Save your file as *****.psp.

PSP 7 users can just save as.
PSP 8 - 9 and 10 users......
Because Animation Shop doesn't recognize *.pspimage you have to save as *.
psp.
This can be done in 2 different ways:

Use this one for all early 8 and 9 versions.
Animation Shop doesn't recognize *.pspimage from
PSP 8 and 9 so we save as a PSP 7 or 6 file. Like this:
Save as > Click options and save as a *.PSP 6 or 7 compatible file.

Use this one for the latest versions.
The latest PSP 9 and all PSP X versions have the option to
directly save as PSP for Animation Shop.
Look in the pull down menu and select Animation Shop (*
psp).

Open your proud.
psp in Animation Shop (AS) .
You have 8 frames. Zoom in and out again. Now you see them.

Click Ctrl-A to select all 8 frames.

Open the Peacock-ani-1.gif in AS too. (in ZIP).
As you can see this animation has 8 layers too.
Click Ctrl-A to select all 8 frames.

You can see if you have selected them all. There has to be a
blue border around each frame. Check your
proud.psp too.

Now first go to your Peacock-ani.gif (still with the blue borders).

Edit > Copy.

In AS you must click the "Propagate paste" button (= yellow hand).

Edit > Paste > Paste in selected frame.
You can also use the icon in your menu (= bl
ue hand).

Take a good look at your mouse.
Put the mouse in position. Click in the first frame.
The animation will be pasted in all frames at the spot your clicked on.
If the peacock is not in the spot you wanted it to be, choose undo and try again.

I pasted my animation at the bottom to the right so my text stays free.

Using this method you can make the cutest
animations and we are going to do so for sure.
I already have a few in mind so keep looking for more.

Now for the "Finishing Touch".

Animation > Properties for frame > Set your frame time at 20.

For the Peacock with 15 frames I used a
speed of 10 otherwise the bird walks to slow.

When done, click to play your animation.

Isn't this cute.................?

Save your Tag as a Gif and you are done.
I hope you like this tutorial and learned some
new things about PSP and Animation Shop.
