Freedom Tag
(PSP all versions)

A tutorial by Mar ©2006

What you need:
Corel PSP. Download a 30 day trial here.
Materials:
Download here.
Open all images in PSP.
Open the FreedomBee.gifs in Animation Shop (3 animations).

Open the font
and minimize.
You'll see it in your text tool now.

This tutorial can only be done if you have Animation Shop (AS).
If you are a new PSP user and you only have PSP X without AS, you
can download AS for free at Jacs:
http://FTP.jasc.Com/pub/en/ani311en.exe .

Let's get started with
the Freedom Animation Tag.
Save often.
Good luck and enjoy.....

This is my second "Animation in Tag" tutorial. The base tut here.
In this tutorial I will go to the next level by pasting more animations in one Tag.

Open the MD-Freedom-back.psp.
Shift-D to duplicate. Close the original.

Open a new image 400 X 25 and fill with #f4c80f.

Effects > 3D-effects > Inner bevel > White.

Copy the banner and go back to your Tag.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Place the banner against the dark yellow line on the bottom.

Open the MD-FreedomRaster.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
This one is at the right spot so leave it.

Open the MD-FreedomOctagon.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move against the white line at the bottom.

Open the MD-FreedomOctagons.psp and copy them one by one.
No need to select since there are two layers. Just click and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Repeat this for the second one.

Move them as on the screenshot below.

Leave the other corners empty.
We are going to put the animations there.

Background to #735823 and foreground locked.

Click and look for the opened  Dominican font. That's in the ZIP.
Size 48 > Stroke 0,0 > B for Bold > Anti-alias checked or Sharp.

Type "Freedom for All" or any other text of your own.

Apply.
Layers > Convert to raster.

Move the text to the yellow border at the top.
Make sure it is in the middle.

Layers > Merge > Merge flatten.

Image > Add borders > 5 Pixels > Color #735823.
With your Magic Wand (Feather 0 and tolerance 15) select the brown border.

Repeat the inner bevel like you used it before.

Open Animation Shop (AS) .

Now open all three animations from the ZIP.

Zoom in and out to see how many frames the animations have.

In this case all 3 animations have
12 frames so that makes things easy.

Go back to PSP and copy the layer 11 times.
You must have 12 layers in total. Count them.

Save your PSP file as freedom-ani.psp.

PSP 7 users can just save as.
PSP 8 - 9 and 10 users......
Because Animation Shop doesn't recognize *.pspimage you have to save as *.psp.
This can be done in 2 different ways:

Use this one for all early 8 and 9 versions.
Animation Shop doesn't recognize *.pspimage from
PSP 8 and 9 so we save as a PSP 7 or 6 file. Like this:
Save as > Click options and save as a *.PSP 6 or 7 compatible file.

Use this one for the latest versions.
The latest PSP 9 and all PSP X versions have the option to
directly save as PSP for Animation Shop.
Look in the pull down menu and select Animation Shop (*psp).

Open your freedom-ani.psp in Animation Shop (AS).
You have 12 frames. Zoom in and out again. Now you see them.
Click Ctrl-A to select all 12 frames.

Now (in AS) go to your FreedomBee.gif.
Click Ctrl-A to select all the 12 frames too.

You can see if you have selected them all. There has to be a
blue border around each frame. Check your freedom-ani. psp too.

Edit > Copy.

Go back to your Tag.

In AS you must click the "Propagate paste" button (= yellow hand).

Edit > Paste > Paste in selected frame.
You can also use the icon in your menu (= blue hand).

Take a good look at your mouse.
Put the mouse in position. Click in the first frame.
The animation will be pasted in all frames at the spot your clicked on.
If the bee is not in the spot you wanted it to be, choose undo and try again.

I pasted my animation in the middle of the octagon shape.

Now (in AS) go to the FreedomBeesJar.gif.
Click Ctrl-A to select all 12 frames.

Edit > Copy.

Go back to your Tag.

Edit > Paste > Paste in selected frame.
Or if you used the little icon do so again.

Put the animated jar as on the screenshot below.

Now go (in AS) to the FreedomBees.gif.
Click Ctrl-A to select all 12 frames.

Edit > Copy.

Go back to your Tag.

Edit > Paste > Paste in selected frame.
Or if you used the little icon do so again.

Put the small bees to the left (see screenshot).

The animation speed is already at 10 so that is fine.
If yours isn't at 10 you can change it into 10 like this:
Animation > Properties for frame > Set your frame time at 10.

When done, click to play your animation.

Save your Tag as a Gif and you are done.
I hope you like this tutorial and learned some
new things about PSP and Animation Shop.
