This tutorial is done in PSP 9.
Open one of the "Vintage images" from the ZIP.
You can also use a image of your own but it has to be 200
X 320.
Other sizes will not work with this tutorial. Sorry.
Shift-D to duplicate. Close the original.
With your magic wand
(feather 0
- tolerance 25) select the blue border.
Use your color picker
to pick a
color from your image.
I make this tutorial with the swans images so I used #d76145.
Remember this first color. You will need it time after time.
Fill the blue selected border with this color.
Effects > 3D-effects > Inner
bevel > Color white.
Effects > 3D-effects > Drop
shadow > Black.
Repeat the drop shadow but this
time Horiz. and Vert. to - 5.

Hold down your shift-key to select the second blue border.
Select another color from your image with the color picker.
Fill the blue selections with this color. I used #4b715a.
Effects > Reflectioneffects > Pattern.
The above setting works for most images but not
with all. You need
to play a little with the settings for some like with the Vintage-beauty.jpg.
My settings screenshot for the Vintage-beauty.jpg. is at the bottom
of this
page with the example of the Vintage frame using the Vintage-beauty.jpg.
The two 25 pixel borders still selected:
Effects > Artistic-effects > Chrome > Color.....
Use a light color from your image. I used #e69468.
With your magic wand
select the blue borders.
Fill the border with your 2nd color (#4b715a). If you don't
remember the color you can get it with your color picker.
Repeat the inner bevel and the drop shadow at 2
and at - 2.
If all went well you now have something like
this:
Of course the colors can be different!
Foreground to a light color from your image.
Background to a dark color from your image.
It is the prettiest if you use two colors in the same e color range
only one light and the other darker. I used #a7b793 and #6a8a73.
Foreground to gradient.
Look for the fore-back gradient.
Texture unchecked (= blue hand). Style Linear.
Fill the selection with the gradient.
No inner bevel or drop shadow.
With your magic wand
select the blue borders.
Fill the border with your 2nd color (#4b715a). If you don't
remember the color you can always get it with your color picker.
With your magic wand

Fill the border with your 1st color (#d76145). If you don't
