This frame is designed to honor my best friend of 43 years, Ineke.
Ineke, her husband, daughter and son in law traveled to Kyoto Japan to
witness the marriage of their sun and brother Michel with his Japanese
bride Shinobu. They got marries on 11-21-2005 in Kyoto Japan.
The wedding was performed in the old traditional Japanese way.
Some photo's taken Japan before and during the wedding.

Let's get started.....
Good luck with your Kyoto Frame

Open de MD-goldpattern.jpg from the ZIP.
Foreground to pattern and  look for the gold pattern.
Texture unchecked (= bleu hand).

Put your background to black.

Open a new image 225 X 315.
Fill the selection with your right mouse button, the black.

 Selections > Select all.
Selections > Modify > Contract with 20 pixels.
1. Fill the selection with the gold.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 2 pixels.
Fill the selection with your right mouse button, the black.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 5 pixels.
2. Fill the selection with the gold.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 2 pixels.
Fill the selection with your right mouse button, the black.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 5 pixels.
3. Fill the selection with the gold.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 2 pixels.
Fill the selection with your right mouse button, the black.

If all went well you have 3 gold borders of 2 pixels.

Selections > Select none.
Copy the image to your PC's memory.

Open the MD-Jap-Roof.psp.
The roof is already prepared by me.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
In your Layer Pallet move this layer down beneath the roof layer.

With you can put it in place. Make sure it fits well.

If all is well you are on the second layer now (= bleu).

Layers > New raster layer.

With your rectangle selection tool (feather 0) pull a long
small selection for a roof gutter (see screenshot below).
Make it a bit wider than the roof itself. Fill the selection with black.
My selection is one raster high. I left one raster block over on each side.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 2 Pixels. Fill with gold.

Selections > Modify > Contract with 2 Pixels. Fill with black.

Selections > Select none.

If all is well you must have this now:

Layers > New raster layer.

With your rectangle selection tool (feather 0) draw a long
and thin selection for a column (see screenshot below).
Not to wide and a bit longer as the black part.

Fill the selection with #8c1e0f.

Effects > 3D-effects > Inner bevel > Color white.

Selections > Select none.

Move this layer down beneath the roof gutter.
Make sure it doesn't stick out at the top.

Layers > Duplicate.
Image > Mirror.

In your Layer Pallet > Duplicate again.
Move the third column to the left edge of your roof.
Make sure the top doesn't stick out.

Layers > Duplicate.
Image > Mirror.

Open the MD-Jap-Stairs.psp and copy.

Go back to your frame.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the stairs all the way down to the bottom of your frame.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Open the MD-Jap-Curtain.psp and copy.

Go back to your frame.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the curtain left between the columns.

In your Layer Pallet move this layer beneath the merged layer.

Layers > Duplicate.
Image > Mirror.

If all went well you now have this:

From this point on all tubes are double. One left and one right.
So don't paste and mirror since the images are different.

Open the MD-Jap-Latern1.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the lantern to the left between the columns.

Open the MD-Jap-Latern2.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the lantern to the right between the columns.

Layers > New raster layer.

Zoom in at your left lantern.

With your rectangle selection too select a small block. Fill with black.
Selections > Modify > Contract with 2 pixels. Fill with gold.

Selections > Select none.

Layers > Duplicate.
Image > Mirror.

Make sure both blocks are on the lanterns.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Copy the top of the roof.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Put it on the left column. Duplicate and mirror.

Open MD-Jap-Vase1.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the vase between the two columns at the left.

Open MD-Jap-Vase2.psp and copy.

Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.
Move the vase between the two columns at the right.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Your base frame is done.

With your wand you can select the middle part
of the black and paste a Japanese image in it:
Edit > Paste > Past into selection.

Or.......

You can use one or more Japanese tubes I have added in the ZIP.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

I gave the merged frame a drop shadow:

And repeated it at - 3.

Choose a background for your frame.
I used the one of the tutorial. It is in the ZIP.
Layers > New raster layer.
Fill with the background of your choice.
In your Later Pallet move it all the way down.

Save your frame as kyoto-frame.jpg.

Your Kyoto Frame is done.
