Scrapbook Card
(PSP 7, 8 and 9)
A tutorial by Mar © 2005.

The Animation.......

This where we are in the first part.

Shift-D To copy. Set this one aside.
With the original..... Merge all layers visible.
Save al SB-kaart-1.psp.
Close.

The latest version of AS doesn't recognize the PSP 8 & 9
extension  *.pspimage so we have to save as a PSP 6 or 7 file.
This is how:
Save as > Click options and choose save as PSP 6 or 7 file.

Notice..... From now on PSP will save everything in PSP 7 / 6 format.
So if you need to save as an PSP 8 or 9 image you
have to changed these settings back in options.

The newer PSP 9 versions have the option to
save as a an AS file. Look in the pull down menu.

We proceed with the first copy:
With  your deformation tool click on the left cover part.
Make the cover smaller by pushing it to the left side:

With your Ctrl-key in pull the bottom right node down.
Change the shape like on the screenshot below.

To select the right part you have to click with first.
Repeat the steps with deformation tool like on the first part.
So begin pushing to the right and than pull out with Ctrl-key.
Make sure both sides are a bit equal in height.

Shift-D to duplicate.

On the copy you just finished......
Merge layers visible.
Save as SB-kaart-2.psp.
Close.

On your second copy.....
Make the opening larger and pull with
your Ctrl-key the sides out even more.

Shift-D to duplicate.

On the copy you just worked on......
Merge layers visible.
Save as SB-kaart-3.psp.
Close.

On your third copy.....
Move the half covers to the other side.
So the left side to the right and the right side to the left.

Can you still follow me and understand??

Now put the glasses (lock) on the bottom two layers.
Make sure your top layer is selected and you are on it.
Not important if it is on the left or the right cover half.

Selections > Select all.
Selections > Float.
Sections > Defloat.
Fill the half cover with #c79bb8.
Repeat the Texturizer filter.

Layers > Duplicate.
Image > Mirror.
Unlock the bottom layer (the card) and
delete the half cover that is still locked.
We don't need that any more.

Merge all layers visible and save as SB-kaart-4.psp. Close.

We now saved 4 different images.

It's very important you did merge your layers in PSP.
You'll get a very strange animation if you didn't.
To make sure, open and check them in PSP.

Open Animate Shop .

Click in AS the first button.

The  Wizzard Animation will start.
Follow the screens en click next.

We only want our card to open once so we check play 1 time.
If you like to open it more, change the number or check loop.

Now open the four images but make sure 1 is on top and 4 at the bottom.
You can change the positions by clicking the up and down buttons.

Your animation will appear in AS now.
Click to play it.

You see there is to much space around the card.
We will fix that first.
Crop your animation.
Use the nodes in PSP 8 and 9.
Do this in your last frame since that one is the largest.

Now that we got to this step I noticed my card keeps opening instead
of playing the animation one time
. It keeps repeating the animation.
Do you have the same problem? Well there is a solution to that too.
Select your last frame.

In AS > Animation > Frame Properties.
Put this frame to 750 or 1000.
The first frame I have changed to 100.

Next steps are very important so follow exact.

Save as > Choose your name > Save.

In the next screen click 'Adjust':

You see this menu. I'll show all 3 tabs.

I used #a7d9df since that is the color of this background.

Set the color always to one that matches your animation or background.
Because if you don't you will get a nasty black or white jagged edge.
Play with these settings. You have to adjust them
on every animation
you do. You can use a light grey color. Mostly that is a good
option, because you can use it on different background colors
.

The opacity of partial transparency can be different
on every image, mostly between 15 and 50. You have to
look yourself what is the nicest effect on your animation.
Sometimes it is better to use "No, use existing color
with opacity 100%." This tab makes or breaks your animation.
If you don't like your animation click undo in AS
and try again with different settings.

If you have done all 3 tab's click OK.
You will find yourself in the first screen. Click: next.

The next screen has to load.
Done? Click next (no screen capture).

You see the following example. Look at your edges.
Are yours black or another strange color go to 'previous' and change
your color. The color #c79bb8 would do good with this card too.

Next screen you see contains info about your image.
You can see the size. Mine was 234 kb.
Click finish now.

Your Scrapbook Card is done.
