Birthday Card 2
(PSP 7, 8 and 9 - No filters)
A tutorial by Mar © 2005.

What you need:
PSP
Download a 30 day trial here.
Materials:
Download here.
Open all images from the ZIP in PSP.

Open the font
and minimize.
You will see it in your text tool now.

Save often.
Let's go
. Good luck.....

Open a new image 400 X 400 > Transparent.

Fill with #1A3154.

Layers > New raster layer.

Foreground to: #baccf0
Background to: #4073c0.

Foreground to gradient (Linear).
Look for the "Fore-back" gradient.
Texture unchecked (bleu hand).

Fill your layer with the gradient.

Open the Birthday-mask.jpg mask.

Layers > New masklayer > From image.

Find the Birthday-mask.jpg.
Invert mask data (bottom hand) checked.

Apply.
Layers > Merge > Merge group.

Open a new image 450 X 125.
Fill with white.

Open the MD-BD-edgemask.jpg mask.

Layers > New masklayer > From image.

Find the MD-BD-edgemask.jpg.
Invert mask data (bottom hand) checked.

Apply.
Layers > Merge > Merge group.

Select two third of the white like on the screenshot below.

Foreground to pattern.
Find the "MD-BD-pattern.jpg" pattern.
Texture unchecked (bleu hand).

Fill the selection with the pattern.
Selections > Select nothing.

Copy the sunscreen and go back to your card.
Don't close the sunscreen yet.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Move the screen at the top of your card
until you see 3 or 4 rows with the pattern.

Go back to your sunscreen end copy about 3 rows.

Copy and go back to your card.
You can close the screen now.
We don't need it anymore.
Edit > Paste > Paste as a new layer.

Now move the pattern down.

Open the decorations for your card.
Decorate as you please.
I have added several tubes in the ZIP for you.

Click  and type your text in a nice font (I used Cosmic -in ZIP).
Size 22 > Stroke 0,0 > Anti-Alias Sharp or checked.

In your Layer Pallet convert to raster (PSP 7, 8 & 9).

If you are satisfied:
Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Image > Change size > 75% > All layers unchecked.

Click with your deformation tool on your card.
You see nodes around it. Keep your Ctrl-key
down and push the bottom right node up.

Now take the middle right node and (still your Ctrl-key in) push
the node up until the top of your card is straight. Look at your raster.
If the grey blocks are in line your card is straight again.

Now move your card as much to
the right of your canvas
as possible.

Layers > New raster layer.

Selection tool to triangle (feather 0).

Make a selection that is shorter than your card (see screenshot).

Foreground to pattern.
Look for the "MD-BD-pattern-2.jpg" > Scale to 50.
Texture unchecked (bleu hand).

Fill the triangle selection.

Selections > Select nothing.

In your Layer Pallet move this layer down.

Click the deformation and you'll see that the triangle gets nodes.
Again your Ctrl-key in and push the middle right node up.
Not to much. Look if your perspective is good.

The top may stick out above your card now so move it a bit down.

Layers > Merge > Merge visible layers.

Now again move (Ctrl-key) the card up and the middle
node at the top to the left. See the example below.

If you are satisfied with the perspective:
Adjust > Sharpen > Sharpen once or twice.

**1. Save your card as a gif.
How to at the bottom of this tutorial.

**2. If you want a drop shadow like I have,
you have to put your card on a background first.
I used the background of this page but a white or any other color
will do too. Think on what background you want to put your card.
Not sure yet? Save your card as a PSP file and
decide just before you send the card.

Here are the settings for the drop shadow.

Your Birthday Card is done.
I hope you like this tutorial.
